Design The Palm Pre has both a touch screen and a sliding keyboard. The device has a 3.1 inch display designed for use with the operators fingers, unlike previous palms which required a stylus. Below the screen there is a 'gesture area'. This section allows additional touch commands. The phone also features a full QWERTY keyboard. This is curved to add to the ergonomics of the Phone. The Palm Pre has one button in the centre of the 'gesture area', volume switches on the side and an on/ off switch on the top. Connectivity is accessed via a micro USB port. The pre has a 3.2 megapixel camera with an LED flash and features wireless charging. Usability and Functionality The Palm Pre runs a Linux-based operating system called WebOS. This system allows for multitasking using a series of pages that can be flicked through while other programs are running. Along with many functions already on the phone, third party apps can be downloaded to turn the Palm Pre into a more versatile device. |
